Ans. All animals and humans are heterotrophs because they don't make their own food. They eat the food prepared by plants or eat the meat of the smaller animals.

Ans. Animals such as cows and buffalo eat grass, leaves and plant products, and lion eats flesh of other animals, crow eats grains, small insects and meat.

Human eat food such as rice, pulses, chapati, cereals, vegetables, fruits, milk, idli, dosa, sambhar, meat, eggs etc.

3. Define herbivores and omnivores.

Ans. Herbivores -The animals that eat only grass, plants or plant products are called herbivores. Example-Cow, Deer, Camel, Goat etc.

Omnivores -The animals that eat both plants and meat are called omnivores. Example -Crow, Dog etc.

4. What is food chain? Construct a food chain consisting of Snake, Grasshopper and frog in a grassland.

Ans. The sequence of living organisms in which one organism consumes or eat another to transfer the food energy is called a food chain.

1. Why is carrot red and spinach green?

Ans. Carrot is red because of beta carotene and spinach is green because it has green pigment called chlorophyll.

2. Why can’t a food chain start with a human being?

Ans. A food chain always starts with producers that are the green plants and human being are consumers that's why it can't start with human being.

3. What makes sprouts more nutritious?

Ans. Sprouts are more nutritious because they contain easily digestible protein. They have vitamins and minerals also.
