Practical -3 ( Understanding Elementary Shapes )

Aim: Making a protractor showing angles of 0°, 22½°, 45°, 67½° , 90° etc. using a piece of paper.

Material required: A piece of thin paper, a sharp pencil, scale.

 Procedure:

 1) Take a piece of thin semicircular paper such that the diameter is AB

 2) Now fold the paper in such a way that A falls on B and a crease is formed in such a way that point of intersection of diameter with the crease is at a point O. The angle formed at point O is 90°

 3) If we fold, this angle to half we get an angle of 45°

4) If we fold further, this angle to a half we get an angle of 22½°

Observation: On opening the sheet of thin paper, we get a protractor with angles 0°, 22½°, 45°, 67½° , 90°
